Renowned painter and woodblock print artist Yoshida Hiroshi is celebrated as an expert among shin-hanga printmakers who integrated modern influences in realism and lighting into traditional Japanese technique.

Hiroshi learned oil painting before switching to woodblock prints. His work mixes Eastern and Western styles. These four prints show famous Japanese places. His use of color and atmosphere gives each scene a time of day—sunrise at the Golden Pavilion, dusk among Toshogu’s tall cedars, and Kameido Bridge in full spring bloom.
